Abloom with spring hues, this baby shower dessert table from Nancy Pfeifer of A to Zebra Celebrations is as fresh as a daisy, as pretty as a picture, and it costs a lot less than you might think.
“I love, love, love daisies, and green and yellow are the perfect spring colors,” Pfeifer says. “I tried to keep treats and displays easy and affordable, but I still wanted that ‘wow’ look.” Favor boxes were purchased at Dollar Tree and stuffed with fluffy marshmallows. Lemonade is served in Mason jars trimmed with eyelet; candy-striped straws are from Cakes and Kids Too.
Fruit kebabs of kiwi and apple incorporate the vibrant spring colors, with clear glass jars of jelly beans, butter mints, and Sixlets. “I suggest using smaller jars for your candy décor, or you end up with tons of candy leftover,” Pfeifer says. Daisy topped cupcakes from Buttercream Bling look almost too sweet to eat atop simple folding displays from Cupcake Stands; ribbons and rhinestones add a sweet touch to the table border.
“It’s super easy to make a centerpiece for your table with items you already have,” says Pfeifer, who uses a bright yellow watering can stuffed with glittering floral fronds. “You might have a white pot or even another color; try spray painting for a simple transformation.” If you don’t have fake flowers on hand, add spring blooms to the mix.
Use scrapbook papers in your color palette to create a whimsical backdrop for your table. “Mix and match your patterns to make it more fun,” Pfeifer says. “Polka dots and stripes are always safe together. If you choose to add a lot of different patterns, keep displays simple on the table.” Incorporate complementary solid colors for balance, and don’t be afraid to play around with your placement. Add visual interest to your food display with a table runner or pretty place mats.
